Note: Erica cinerea L. is a species with has a western-european range (atlantic), it is widespread from northern Portugal to western Norway. It is present, in several small disjoncted areas, also in Catalonia, Languedoc, Cévennes and north-western Italy (Piedmont and Liguria). In Liguria it is present in the central-western sector, between Spotorno and Pegli. It grows on ultramafic and siliceous substrates (porphyroids or quartzites) between 120 and 1170 m elevation (395-3840 feet). The current recorded stations are few (about twenty) but the species is very abundant in almost all presence locations. Erica cinerea L. is protected by Regional Law No. 28/2009.
