In this seemingly pristine and untouched region during World War II - at least between 6. 10. 1944 and 8. 5. 1945 (surrender to the British) - must have been the 'Lyngenbergstellung', manned by the retreating Germans of the 3. Kompanie of the Gebirgsjäger-Regiment Nr. 141 (so there must have been built a street and at least one bunker and a harbor of sorts, since they were shipping the fleeing units and their equipment) under a Hauptmann Nockinger. (All this according to my grandfather's Wehrpaß, who was truck driver of Geb. Jäg. Reg. 141 that had NOT dissolved into any other unit and moved south, though it slipped from the army-records. [ - Well, grandfather said he saw no Russians, only thousands of lemmings, and due to lack of provisions they ate some of those.]) - Maybe somebody could find out more. Thank you, Claudia
